The Friendly Hour began life as the Women’s Fellowship in 1961 and was changed to the Friendly Hour in 1980 as there was no wish to debar men from membership. We meet on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm from late September through to July. The meeting has always had an important devotional element, with hymns, prayer and a reading. There is a varied programme of speakers, musical afternoons and member’s days, with the opportunity to chat over a cup of tea. Outings are always popular. There is also a service for Holy Week, a harvest festival and Christmas carols.

The Friendly Hour has a caring structure and its basic appeal has always been the mutual support and friendship of its members, which has nourished some who do not get to Sunday Worship.
