Messy Church is a new and exciting way to explore God and the bible. We have been running Messy Church at Huntington for 3 years now and we love it!

Why do we love it?

Because its Christ-centred

Messy Church is a church, not a craft club, that helps people encounter Jesus as Lord and Saviour. We do this through various crafts and activities that are different each time. We’ve had all sorts, from paper plate lions, to ice-melting, and biscuit decorating! See the photo albums for more!

Messy Church is All-age

It is for adults and children to enjoy together – every element should be relevant and accessible to all ages. We do our best!

It’s very creative

It uses hands-on activities to explore Bible stories, to reflect a God of creativity and to give people a chance to play together. Playing is never a waste of time and playing is always improved when it is part of an activity like Messy Church.

It’s welcoming and inclusive

It reflects a God of unconditional love and is a church for people outside church, providing an oasis of welcome and a safe space in which to thrive. Messy Church is about hospitality, expressed most evidently by eating together – we share a meal together at the end (usually pizza!)

We celebrate!

It reflects a God of joy who wants his people to have life in all its fullness. There is a short act of worship (15 mins tops) which is usually very different to “normal” (if there is such a thing!)

The Celebration can be engaging, fun, joyful: where people’s perception of church is that it is boring, we need to show them that the church worships a God who is totally engaging.
